Eramosa Engineering: Providing Centralized Data Access for Water Professionals

Reporting and the availability of data is a historic problem for most water & wastewater organizations. Specifically, it is a challenge to combine data from all the sources staff rely on for daily tasks into unified, useful information and reports. These data sources typically include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) historians, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and other applications specific to the water industry.

ISA WWAC 2011 Symposium Materials

Eramosa Engineering team member Graham Nasby, along with co-author Matt Phillips from the City Guelph, presented a paper on June 23, 2011 at the ISA’s 6th annual water/wastewater and automatic controls symposium in St. Louis, Missouri. Entitled “Modernization of a Municipal Waterworks with SCADA Standardization: Past, Present and Planning for the Future”, the paper covered the experiences that the city had with developing and implementing a comprehensive SCADA master planning and standardization program over the past several years. The talk was presented in a “how to” format that highlighted specific waterworks projects that Guelph undertook on its road to standardization. Included in the talk were the motivations for standardization, guidance on implementing a standardization program, and an overview of the many benefits that SCADA standardization brings.

After the symposium, we received several requests for copies of the paper. Please feel free to download your copy with these links. Harmbetcockmirea A shortened version of the paper was also published in the May/June 2011 edition of ISA InTech magazine. A link to the article can be found here.
