Eramosa has been working with York Region for over 10 years. In that time we have completed numerous projects for both their water and wastewater treatment facilities.
The Keswick Water Pollution Control Plant underwent a capacity expansion in order to be able to service future growth within the Town of Georgina. As part of the project, new Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PAC’s were installed to provide complete automatic control of the plant equipment and instrumentation. Eramosa was responsible for system integration, startup and commissioning, and training on the plant software. All Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 and GE Proficy iFIX programming was developed in compliance with the newly developed regional SCADA standards. Eramosa was also responsible for the integration of several smaller packaged control systems as well as the tertiary membrane filtration package into the overall plant SCADA system.
York Region retained Eramosa for the development of a consolidated Process Control Strategy for Pressure District 8 (PD8) in the Towns of Richmond Hill and King City, and the City of Vaughan. A total of seven (7) water facilities were included under the project. For the first phase of the project, Eramosa worked with both the Region and consultants involved in existing capital works upgrades at the facilities to develop a consolidated process control strategy and narrative which identified the integrated operations and process data flow between the facilities. For the second phase, Eramosa and the Region’s PCS group implemented and commissioned the control strategy as identified in the process control narrative for the facilities. Eramosa was responsible for PAC programing, iFIX programming, and QuickPanel programming at the King-Vaughan PSV1, King City Dufferin Street Elevated Tank, and King City Fischer Street Elevated Tank as well as CompactLogix front end controller programming at the Maple Pumping Station. The PD8 system was jointly commissioned together by Eramosa and the Region.
The Region completed upgrades to the existing odour control facility associated with the York Durham Sewer System which conveys sewage from York Region to the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in Durham Region for treatment prior to discharge into Lake Ontario. The odour control facility includes bioscrubber and biofilter systems as well as five (5) remote pressure and hydrogen sulphide monitoring stations positioned along the existing sewer. A new control system was installed as part of the project including a series of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers and GE QuickPanel View operator interface terminals. GE Proficy iFIX HMI/SCADA system programming for remote monitoring and control of the entire treatment system was also included. Eramosa was responsible for all PAC, OIT, and SCADA system programming as well as site start-up, commissioning, and operator training.
Eramosa also has several projects in progress with the Region including:
- SCADA system integration services at the Southeast Collector Odour Control Facility.
- Electrical improvements to the Leslie Street Sewage Pumping Station.
- SCADA system integration work at three (3) new sewage pumping stations in Queensville, Holland Landing, and East Gwillimbury.
- Instrumentation, control, and network design for the re-chloramination upgrades to the Aurora South Reservoir, Aurora East Booster Pumping Station, Milliken Pumping Station, and the Orchard Heights Pumping Station.
