Newcastle Water Treatment Plant and Sewage Pumping Station
Eramosa partnered with RV Anderson to deliver a major expansion to the Newcastle Water Supply Plant to double the plant capacity. The expansion included process capacity modifications to the raw water intake, low-lift pumping, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, highlight pumping, residual management, standby power systems, UV upgrades, and the hydro-substation as well as a new sewage pumping station including odour control system.

PROFINET Standards

Eramosa provided electrical design, instrumentation and controls design, and SCADA and network integration services. The new electrical utility supply includes a 13.8KV substation and 1,250kW standby generator. During conceptual design, it was decided that twinning the existing plant would be the preferred method to achieve the required treatment. This approach required construction modifications to the entire existing treatment plant. During detailed design, the decision was made to utilize PROFINET communications and smart field devices instead of the traditional hardwired I/O signals. The design team developed a set of standards and guidelines for the design and implementation of PROFINET equipped MCCs and smart field devices.
