Eramosa kicks off 12th year of MS fundraising

Eramosa launched its fundraising campaign for the multiple sclerosis (MS) Bike Tour in style last week when company President Tim J. Sutherns volunteered to take cream pies to the face.

The event was a big hit with employees as both groups and individuals pledged money to the Eramosa MS Bike Team for the honour of decorating Mr. Sutherns face with whip cream. With Mr. Sutherns matching employee contributions, the occasion raised more than $400 dollars. As you can see from the pictures below, the event was highly enjoyable.

“What a great way to kick off our fundraising efforts in 2016! When we started riding 12 years ago we had no idea that our team would grow the way it has and that we would have the privilege of raising over $360,000 for the MS Society.”

This will be the 12th year that Eramosa has entered the MS Bike Tour. While our focus is Niagara, last year we entered teams into the Calgary and Toronto rides as well. With those efforts, we raised over $40,000 along with entering the largest team of riders in Niagara. This year we are hoping to raise over $50,000 from our rides in Calgary, Niagara, and Toronto.

MS Bike is the largest cycling series in North America. Each year more than 10,000 bikers participate between June and September for those afflicted with MS. Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world as an estimated 100,000 Canadians live with the disease. Every day, three more Canadians are diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable illness that affects vision, balance, memory, and mobility. It is most often diagnosed in young adults, aged 15 to 40.
