DECEMBER 2010

The Township of Centre Wellington recently completed a major SCADA upgrade to the Fergus water system.   The upgrade consisted of  changing out the existing Bristol Babcock Network 3000 and ControlWave RPUs to Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLCs for the eight (8) water sites servicing the Town of Fergus as well as miscellaneous instrumentation upgrades for enhanced control of the facilities. Procon Niagara was the successful contractor retained for the installation.  Eramosa completed the CompactLogix PLC programming, iFix programming, commissioning of the system and report development. As a component of the SCADA upgrades a new wireless IP based SCADA network was installed and commissioned at each of the water sites to replace the legacy serial radios utilized by the Bristol controllers.  Eramosa worked closely with the Township’s IT department for the installation and commissioning of the new IP wireless network.  The Fergus and Elora Water and wastewater facilities have now all been migrated over to the Allen-Bradley and iFix platforms and the new wireless IP network.  With the completion of the Fergus Water SCADA upgrades, Eramosa is now working with the Township on the Fergus Wastewater Treatment Plant SCADA upgrades, scheduled for completion by the Summer of 2011.  Once the Fergus Wastewater Treatment Plant SCADA upgrades are completed the last remaining facility to be upgraded will be the Elora Wastewater Treatment Plant.
