10 Years to the Finish Line for MS

Every year, over 10,000 Canadians strap on their helmets and mount their trusty metal steeds; hitting the road together to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Canada has the highest rate of Multiple Sclerosis in the world, known more commonly as MS, it is an inflammatory disease that damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord causing motor, visual, sensory and autonomic problems.

In 2013 Canadians raised $23 million in funds for many different research programs, grants and support services. The money is divided into 4 different categories; quality of life & population health, cause & risk factors, progression & therapies and help with nerve repair.

This year Eramosa continued to support the cause and proudly finished their 10th year of rides on September 6, with 35 of our staff members, friends and family participating in both the Toronto and Niagara rides.

Between our 35 team members and our generous corporate sponsors we raised over $35,000 bringing the total amount raised over the 10 years to $324,000. Not only do we ride for a cure, but over the year we work on other efforts to raise awareness and funds (including collecting donations for Dress Down Friday’s) to show that Eramosa is a leading supporter to raise funds for MS research. Over the years Eramosa has also received several nods from the MS Society at the rides including:

  • Largest Team (3 years)
  • Top Fundraiser (2 years)
  • Best Dressed
  • Multiple Platinum Fundraising (over $25,000)
  • Diamond Fundraising (over $50,000)

Thank you to all our sponsors for helping us reach this milestone, your support over the years has been the proverbial wind at our backs as we cross each finish line. 10 years up hill and down, at Eramosa we will continue to push our efforts in the fight against MS and we look forward to sore knees and backs next year. Ride on!
